I'm under way
#91

I buy from a lot of sellers. Just chose pin rows with 2.54 spacement.

Some seller links:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-2-54-1X40p...41843297bb

You only need one 40 pins row. Cut it in two 15 pins pieces.
HINT: Count sixteen pins and then cut in the middle of last pin! When cutting you will always ruin a pin...

Ahh so that (I think?) is what you meant by data corruption, i.e. your Solar version FO (WS-3081) which is known for lock ups / crashes where you have to keep resetting the solar pod (by pressing the Solar Pod's reset button) and it creates bad data, for a while, in Cumulus, when you restart the WS3081. Now I see why you wanted to use the WDPro2.

Having the WH-1081, I never got any crashes / lockups. Just 2 wind glitches so far in 3 weeks. I don't even want to live with 1 glitch. And I want UV/Solar as well. Which are the 2 mean reasons for my attempting to build a WDPro2.

I got the 2 Nano's from the Chinese seller that Bob chose (alice...) in about 2 weeks. Seems I get stuff quicker then? Maybe we truly are not part of the European system?! Just my little joke. Not sure why postage to here is quicker?

I am curious, where did you get those white plastic "plates" / "dishes" / "bowls" that you made your FARS from? Got a link to the item?

These "plates" are usually used in plant pots. Cheap and easy to make holes.

Thanks.

Ahh I found them, they are called "plant pot saucers", used like a tea cup and saucer, the saucer goes under the plant pot to stop the water spilling out of the holes in the bottom of the plant pot. I searched on Ebay for "white plant pot saucer plastic" with "include description" ticked, and came up with ;-

I'll have a look in Wilkinsons and B & Q also. I had a look on their websites and B & Q have numerous options ;-

...but they are all colored or clear and none of them are white and would have to be painted with bright white emulsion (latter is water based, gloss paint would be better initially but goes yellow over time since it's oil based).

I'll have a think and order some later. Unless I re-use this dead Davis VP1's standard RS that I have lying around here.

I've finally got round to creating a case for my Remote Display Receiver.

The case came from a plastic box that did contain big timber screws till the other day. Once I had emptied it I liked the look of it and the angle that it sits on.

Here's what it looked like before I spray painted the inside black:

You might notice the TFT screen protector I use as a mask for the screen window Smile
Unfortunately the WeatherDuino logo had some bleed through at the edges so I had to remove it. I'll later print a sticker for the front when I have some sticker media.

Here's a few pics of the finished case:

It's hard to get pictures that do it justice. Unfortunately the hot glue holding the display mode button in shows a bit around the button. I probably should have used super glue for this visible parts on the front.

Here's the inner wiring:

Profile shots:

The rear showing DHT22 mounted away from the warmer board and the swivel 5 Vdc power connector. Also the USB port is accessible from the back.:

The other side and the homemade rubber ducky antenna:

This antenna was made with a length of stiff yet flexible wire with heat shrink over it all.

Overall I fairly happy with how it turned out. The good thing about this "free" case is that it would also be good in landscape orientation too.

What a surprise uncle_bob!!! To me, this is like a new year gift! Thank you.
The first WeatherDuino Pro2 Wireless Display unit, is publicly revealed.
Congratulations. Well done.
My friend, I want those stickers! Cool Do you ship to Portugal? I'm talking seriously.

I think that now I have a problem! SmileSmileSmile
People will start to ask, but what is an WeatherDuino Pro 2 Wireless Display unit? I fell that I have to talk a little more about it.

Hardware and software for those units are not yet publicly released, but they will be very soon, maybe in one or two weeks.
Basically this is an add on for the WeatherDuino Pro2 system, which allows you to have many remote displays, all over your house. They receive data relayed from your main RX unit (v4.0x or older versions with the relay data mod already published), and show your weather data always syncronized with it, even the data and time.

There will be two versions for the WeatherDuino Pro2 Wireless Display units with two diferent pcb's. I take the opportunity to reveal for now, just the very low cost version. This unit supports one 1.8" color FTF displays or one 20x4 or 16x2 LCD displays.

I'm planning to make available no more than 5 units, as an already built kit, with all the parts, including the the SMA antenna, for less than 40€... 38€... or... will be a good surprise!

Enough talk, let's reveal the small beast:

Do you mean for your standard receiver? I thought the remote display receiver board (the red one in Werk's pic.) and code weren't even "out" yet?

Superglue can also cause fogging so I have seen?

Interesting, you put the AM2302 / DHT22 on the outside of the unit, I was concerned that dust would affect it's readings eventually? But that would also happen if it a DHT22 was used outside I suppose.

Glad that you got it working and setup to your liking. BTW does your TMP36 still read 70-ish? Did you ever solve that problem?

I am having a major nightmare with my rain readings going completely nuts ;-

Maybe Werk or someone can help. I don't know what to do about it.

You are correct, that board hasn't been released, yet. I sort of let the cat out of the bag as I forgot this hasn't been released yet. I'm using a modified main RX unit (with a FS1000A transmitter module attached) and a standard RX unit with the unreleased Wireless Display firmware.

Quote:Superglue can also cause fogging so I have seen?

Possibly. The fogging is caused because the glue is visable through the case.

Quote:Interesting, you put the AM2302 / DHT22 on the outside of the unit, I was concerned that dust would affect it's readings eventually? But that would also happen if it a DHT22 was used outside I suppose.

I hadn't thought of that. A blow of air or a vacuum should avoid that. I put it on the outside of the case as I wanted good airflow around it so it reads the local temps good, not the temp in the case.

Yes that's been fixed in the firmware.

I think Werk_AG will need to look at that, if it's occuring after after the 3 minute wait time before starting Cumulus.
