The rain gauge is the kind of instruments which when possible should be placed near the ground level, 1 to 2 meters above.

The temp/humidity transmitter on the tower section is too close to the trees. That treeline is a windbreak because we get some really really strong winds here since the land is basically flat in all directions.

I had considered installing the rain bucket on the 3rd TX board I have, but for now I'll see how it operates where it is. I still have an Ambient Weather weather station I can compare the rain readings to. If there are any issues I'll still have some options.

It rained a little yesterday so I got to see how the FO rain bucket performed compared to my existing weather station.

My AW weather station recorded 0.21" of rain. The FO rain bucket connected to my WeatherDuino measured 0.12" of rain, almost 50% less. My Ambient Weather weather station detected the rain first and it measured more rain than the FO rain bucket up on the roof with the wind instruments. It was windy so I can see how less rain would be read higher up.

I am going to extend the cable of the FO rain bucket and move it lower and near my AW weather station rain bucket. Hopefully there it will read closer to what my other weather station is reading.

So I'll be moving the rain bucket, but keeping it connected to the same TX1. The cable will be about 35ft long to reach the new location.
