Hi everyone,

Since 2011 I have been running a Fine Offset station and it has broken several times so it's now time to upgrade.  I have a 4Pro TX and RX.  I am gradually getting the parts for the TX and building it up so looking forward to finally getting some data.  First off learning to deal with soldering parts that have shrunk since I was a kid.

Hi Nigel,

Yes the parts have shrunk,  but take your time to solder and your 4Pro set is going to work fine.
Hope to see your skills with some pictures.

Tip; use solder paste for smd and a fine solder tip.

My 4Pro set is on-air working for 2 weeks now.

I also think that a soldering iron with a fine tip is very important. Regular solder wire can be used too (I use 60/40 - 0.5mm).

been taking my time.  looking through my much needed magnifying glass with light.  Just received my voltage regulators...  I managed to get 100 somehow? So what to do with the other 97?

Sorry rude of me.  Forgot to say congratulations on yours up and running.  How long from ordering boards has that taken?

Hi Nigel,

Yes,  for soldering i also use a magnifying glass with light, if our age is above 40 years we need more tools!

   

It's more practical to mount this tool steady to your table , i also use it without the magnifying glass.

Thank you,  i started the project for my new 4PRO weatherstation in december 2021.

And i must say i am very happy with the 4PRO transmitter and receiver, it gives me the opportunity to control a lot of data.
But also the possibility to add more transmitters and receivers.
This all because of a good smart software package!

Looks like I'm drawing near to completing this part of the build. I have to double check but I appear to have all the relevant parts on the TX board now. Getting exciting.
I've used pin headers after making a few ordering errors on screw terminals.
Unfortunately the pic is a bit large to go in the files...

Yesterday I woke up my Arduino account.  Downloaded the firmware.  Converted the download from .rar to .zip the latter appears to be compatible with the Arduino cloud IDE.  The file then successfully imported.  Then hit a few stumbling blocks in that a couple of the libraries weren't available and the IDE didn't find my board/port.  The laptop I am using is a work one and I appear to have to get the Arduino 'Agent' installed if I'm going to use the cloud IDE.  .  I and have installed the local IDE version 1.8.15 on the laptop (that is in our library of permitted software, just a bit out of date) .  I will persist with that I've only used the old interface for blink before moving to the fresh IDE look and feel which I'm more familiar with a bit frustrating that this new post covid windows image on this work PC doesn't permit the cloud IDE.  Will be a bit before I can work on this as I have some other projects to do in the fresh air.  Well is it that fresh who knows until I start measuring...  The sun is shining, hum how much I wonder, and what's the temp?  I guess for now I will have to make those judgments the old way.
