Werk_AG or uncle_bob did you solder the Nano directly to the boards or did you put the chip in a holder so it can be changed if necessary?

About to start work on mine as I have nearly got all the bits!!

I have always soldered directly on the board, just do a small test before soldering to see if the Arduino Nano is working well. I do this because once, only after soldering I realized that the FTDI chip was defective.
Solder the nano in a socket may be a good idea.

A connector like the one on image below can be used as a socket for the Arduino Nano.

I've done both techniques.
On my stripboard model, most things were socketed.
On my PCB version, I soldered directly.
