And so it is. Wow, I never thought eBay would be so hard to find LCDs ! AU's ebay searching won't show 2.8" displays, and bon.display's store didn't seem to have touch devices when I ordered. Always good to have options - who doesn't need another display or three

I'm pretty sure that the first one isn't as it uses a 16 bit parallel interface rather than a SPI interface. The second one may work but you would have to work out which pins on a Raspberry Pi are used.

It might be compatible, but it also might not be. The SPI interface could be significantly different to the one on all the smaller/previous displays. But if you wanted to give it a try, and report back, that'd be awesome

I ended up going with 2.8" as per OP.
