Nano 2.3 vs 3.0
#1

Just starting my build and parts are rolling in. PCB's arrived from Werk_AG this morning (thanks!)

First problem - Nanos: Despite being advertised on eBay as Nano 3.0's, the boards I've got seem to have Atmega 168 parts on instead of 328s. I'm guessing this means that they won't be suitable.

Time to pester the eBay seller, I guess.

So it seems the main difference between 168 and 328 is that 328 has twice the memory. The TX board code with minimal options enabled seems to compile and run when configured for a 168, but I suspect that if I add more options and debug code I'll be out of RAM.

Hi,

The Nano should be the 368 - 16Mhz version.

The Nano should be the 328 - 16Mhz version (368 doesn't exist).
The 168 version only have 1K of SRAM which is very short to use even with the TX software.

I think you mean 328? I can't seem to find any reference to 368 processors.

(Also, isn't the 168 also a 16MHz device, but with half the memory...)

Hi,
Congratulations on your decision to build, you will enjoy the finished product. With regards to the nano v3 there ars virtually hundreds advertised on EBay ex China with the 328 chip at very low cost.

Highly recommended for UK buyers, quick delivery and; I must have bought a few dozen from him, no fails.

Excellent tip - thanks very much.  I'm trying to use UK suppliers where possible as direct from China can be bit of a lottery and take a looong time.
