Board Dimensions
#1

Could someone assist with the dimensions of the latest WeatherDuino pcb's.
I've ordered my boards from Werk_AG, but would like to start planning and ordering enclosures for the system.

Werk_AG, if you have no objection, could you post a 1:1 printable pcb layout of the RX, TX & WD boards. That would greatly assist with enclosure planning while waiting for the boards to arrive. Maybe adding the files along with the schematics?

Hi MikeM,

Thanks for your suggestion, and it is something I would like do at some point, no promises about when (added to my todo list).
However let me suggest you that in my humble opinion the better moment to decide about enclosures, is after having the whole system assembled, then you will have a clearer idea about the space you really need (for positioning the LCD, the switch, the push button, the LEDs etc, etc). The board of the 20x4 LCD is quite high, you should take it in account when choosing the enclosure for the RX unit.

WeatherDuino Pro2 Board Dimensions

RX v5.xx - 96.06 x 54.61 mm
RX v6.xx - 96.06 x 54.61 mm

TX v3.xx - 96.06 x 59.69 mm

WD v2.xx - 85.17 x 52.07 mm

After having recently built a WeatherDuino Pro2 system, I agree with Werk_AG's comments. Get into the construction side of things first and then settle on an enclosure once you have all of the components and the boards have been assembled.

Yes you will better appreciate the "volume" of what you have build. For instance, you have a heatsink on the regulator - this takes space and will have an impact on how you mount it.
If you look at my first TX case, you will see it.

moreover, do not underestimate the space taken by the connectors to the various sensors and the power supply. You will have to make a choice when it comes to select those connectors.

Thanks.

Thank you for the board dimensions.

I know it's best to wait until I have everything build and running.

I do have an advantage to laying out enclosures, as I'm 3D CAD capable and have been doing to it for some time.
And learned a few lessons along way...Sad
