The connections on your picture are correct.  

You say "don't use the GND pin of the TX module" for the common GND. So is the arrangement shown in the sketch in green okay?

Any GND point, except the GND pin of the TX module, will be fine.

Well I made the changes and everything is working fine.

I had my station telling me that the wind direction hadn't varied for 2 days. It turns out that the Davis wind vane had been blown off from the mount, so there was nothing to change the angle of the spindle. I placed the vane back in position but it is not a snug fit. I might need to add a small dollop of silicon? Has anyone else experienced this with a Davis wind vane?

Let me introduce my last RX station to you ...

It is my older WeatherDuino Pro2 RX unit and it is in one cabinet with Raspberry & CumulusMX.
The cabinet also includes a backup battery, a power supply with UPS features, power modules
for individual parts of the device, and a Raspbian HDD for CumulusMX. RX uses LCD 20x4 I2C,
Rpi LCD 3.5" (TFT 480x320 touch). I first used the renkforce USB adapter on SATA, so RPi uses
a standard 2.5 "SATA HDD.

The device has been running from about this october at me in trial operation. The final installation
on site will only be done at the end of december - in Austria, just below Vienna. There is also
a provisional version of the site, but it shows the values measured in the Czech Republic.

Hi,

Mostly the terminal - CLI, but by default Raspbian boots into X. The display serves mainly for autonomous
control of Raspbian by keyboard and touchpad (Bluetooth), ie without the participation of remote
control eg via SSH. But it's just a display of the operating system, so its using is completely universal.
(For example: switch CumulusMX off/on during RX firmware updates etc ...)

However, because it is relatively small, it will not normally be used to display of the skyline from an IP camera
as I use on my own RX+, where I have a 7" screen. In Austria I do not expect to install the camera anymore.
