SHT7x Temp / Humidity Sensors
#1

I have been looking for SHT1x sensors on a breakout board but they seem to be out of stock wherever I look. It appears to be easier to get the SHT7x sensors. Has anyone used these as outdoor sensors with WeatherDuino or know if they will work? I believe thay are the same sensors as the SHT1x just supplied on a board with pins. The Sensirion datasheet for SHT1x says this -

SHT1x is supplied in a surface-mountable LCC (Leadless
Chip Carrier) which is approved for standard reflow
soldering processes. The same sensor is also available
with pins (SHT7x) or on flex print (SHTA1).

Thanks for any advice.

Hi,
Search on eBay, there are many vendors that sell it:
Some links below:

Thanks for the links. I searched ebay.co.uk and none appear on there but I can order from one of these.

Click and collect argos etc. Or get the real thing at RS Components http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/temperatur...s/6675275/
Suggest you get an SF1 cover for the SHT10 and if you want to get a "real" Sensirion SHT11 RS are cheaper than ebay.

Thanks for the info JT118. Are you suggesting that the Chinese SHT11 sensors are not "real" and are inferior?

It depends, I have bought the Chinese ones some OK some not, but the genuine Sensirion is Swiss made and is excellent. See Sensirion website. About £17.00 on RS. The filter cap is only a pound. BUT you will need some VERY good soldering skills and a PCB for the SHT11. It is really just a question of what you want and how much you want to pay. But at the same time recognising the limitations of the cheapest options.

I get most of my stuff off ebay; second hand research grade stuff, but you have to know what you are looking for be prepared to wait. Perhaps the best option is to build your weatherduino up, add on £20.00 worth of FO stuff (in UK cheapest from Maplins). Then search ebay for old Davis stations or better and replace the FO sensors over time.
