Yet another build under way
#11

Well I now have the station operational. Still a bit of wiring to tidy up etc. but data is now being collected by cumulus. Smile

The Rx unit is sitting happily in my server cabinet

The Tx unit is mounted in the shed

I mounted the rain gauge where the old wmr968 unit was. I put the temperature sensor on the southern facing shed wall so it will stay in the shade now till after winter. You can also see the little whip aerial for the tx unit.

I used the pole that came with the fine offset station to mount the wind measuring units.

The shed has power so am running the tx from a 240v plug-pack at the moment. I intend to add solar for this in the near future though. The data is available to all devices on our home network so look forward to being able to keep track of the weather in our local area once again.

Thanks once again Werk_AG for this weather station project. It has been a pleasure to put together.

See a finished system that is up and running is a great pleasure to me too. Thanks for sharing the pictures and your experience building it. I'm sure the WeatherDuino Pro2 will give you a good service for many years.

I now have my web page up. It can be seen here http://servit.power.on.net/cumulus/index.htm

Still have a few things to sort out. The Rx unit is occasionally loosing contact with the tx unit. seems to be random but usually occurs around mid morning. I have some new aerials coming to see if that helps.

The other thing is my humidity readings seem to hit 100% during the night, can anyone tell me if that is normal or have I got a problem.

The web page is looking great!

What is the distance between TX and RX unit?

If there are any nearby weather stations, you can use wunderground to check their readings, but to me it seems a problem with the DHT22 sensor, my experience tells me that they are not very suitable for outside use, specially because of their humidity readings, that have a trend to reach near 100% very quickly. It seems to be a common behaviour that sometimes only start to happen after some months, but also has been seen just after some weeks of use.
There are some advices about it on the forum.
If possible try to change your DHT22 for an SHT10 or SHT11, they cost a little more but are very good sensors (Davis uses SHT11) and last for several years.

The RX is about 25m from the tx. It does have to go through a couple of walls to connect. The house has a tin roof and aluminium sarking lining the exterior walls so that will restrict the signal a bit. I will try moving the aerials around to see if that helps.

I have now checked a couple of stations in my area and they are not getting 100% humidity readings. I am using an sht-10 sensor already so it might be faulty. It does seem to give correct readings during the day, only at night does it read too high. Do you think the wmr968 housing that I have it in is causing the problem.

I don't think so. Maybe it's only the placement. Before thinking in changing the sensor, maybe you could try to put it in a more ventilated place, just to check if the readings change.

Could there be condensation forming near the sensor. Thats a sign of 100% humidity. If you can see some condensation, maybe you need to consider the location.

I was thinking about that possibility...

Thanks guys
I will move it on the weekend and see if that helps.

My boards turned up today. Thanks for the great service. Now all I need is for the components to go on them to turn up.
