Thanks Werk. I put a fair bit of effort into creating a timber and stainless steel case for the RX unit in order to make sure the " Boss of the house" didn't object to the appearance and ask me to put it in the Shed  . 

I will have to go and check the TX unit - can't remember what I did there.

You my not believe, but I added the "big clock" as a screen saver option (instead of just turning off the backlight) thinking on the " Boss of the house". A clock is something which normally doesn't bother the "Boss of the House"  

Perhaps you haven't installed it, or haven't enabled it on the TX software

I am noticing the RF efficiency seems to vary a lot - highest is 175%, lowest is 5%. Is usually between 50% and 90%. Rx unit seems to be receiving data ok. I am not yet using the Retransmit function of the RX unit. Is this something to be worried about ?

I think it is without any problem.
On the contrary, at home, everyone goes to watch it whenever someone leaves the house ... Very usefull item!

Now that the basic system is up and running i am wondering what the best way to display and make the data work for me. I intend to use the soil moisture sensors and temp sensors to monitor irrigation in addition to the weather data, and need to understand how best to log, display and interact with the data. I  would like to use email alerts, (e.g rain event alert, or soil moisture to dry) and perhaps get interaction with other devices.  Is Cumulus capable of this, can I use thingspeak or IFTTT for some of that functionality. I should point out I am not much of a programmer these days.


Are some threads someone can point me to ? I could not find anything that seemed to point me in the right direction by searching.
