Apogee SP-110
#1

I just snagged an Apogee SP-110 pyranometer off of ebay. I think I got a pretty good deal for it, but I guess the jury is still out until I get it connected and running. Big Grin

He has 9 more for sale. In case anyone is interested the ebay link is here. http://www.ebay.com/itm/302444132379

Looking at the manual there are 3 wires
Red: Positive (signal from sensor)
Black: Negative (signal from sensor)
Clear: Shield/Ground

What wire goes where? I see A0, A1, SDA, SCL, 5V, and ground.

I assume the clear/shield goes to ground, but where does the red and black wire go to?

TIA

Hi,

The output is described as 0 - 350 mV (i.e. analogue) so you will probably need something like Werk's Solar Radiation Interface Kit (with Red to the input and black to the local ground).  That thread includes a link to the (long) main forum discussion.

Cheers,  Alan.

Congratulations!
The price is very good, but: "Shipping: May not ship to Czech Republic - ..."  Huh
So I'm out of luck.

Unfortunately only ships to USA. Sad

Werk tested mine and you will see reference to this in Allycats link above and wiring as described. Also see here:

You will need interface kit;

I am sure you have this:

Yes, of course. As Alan said, you have to amplify the signal to the level needed for Arduino ...

The answer to this question, is yes and no!

You can use your Apogee SP-110 pyranometer without the Solar / UV interface, connecting it directly to your TX board, the drawback of this approach is that you will get a very poor resolution and precision. The code is prepared for this possibility, but need edition on two lines.
If you want to try using it directly connected to the TX board, just let me know and I will tell you the required changes on the code.

That's definitely not what I want so I need to order a Solar/UV interface board from you please.

I also want to eventually connect leaf wetness, and soil moisture, soil temperature, does that require another board?
