heated rain bucket
#11

All of these used gauges will be far better than a new FO gauge and even a new Davis.

Might get this for a reasonable offer: (I assume you will not pay the huge postage offered on UK site)

This one comes with pyranometer which with a bit fiddling you can probably get to work with Weatherduino.

And an interesting one which you might be able to make your own enclosure

http://hydrolynx.com/manuals/5050P.pdf 1mm resolution but very accurate.

Thanks for the info. I saw those on ebay last night. Looks like the first one doesn't come with the funnel though.

A bit expensive with no funnel. Second one a better bet, especially with pyranometer. I must confess if it was me I would get the Misco, it looks great and although only a resolution of 1mm will be very accurate. (generally you build inaccuracy as the resolution increases). Though you would need to build the 5054 top part. But it is only a funnel with a 11.81" ID, a sharp edge to the top of the funnel and a 12" diameter tube. (http://hydrolynx.com/manuals/5054TS.pdf )

I have the Texas Gauge on my Weatherduino. (bought off ebay some time ago).

That's kind of what I figured. Thanks.

If I had lots of spare $$ I would go with the TE or other high end device. Maybe in the future.

If anyone is following this thread I got in contact with rainwise and the price for the RGP is 190USD. That's a little more than I wanted to spend. Their consumer rain bucket w/digital counter is 73USD. I'd rather not have to modify the gauge by removing the digital counter and installing an RJ11 plug and possibly replacing the cable with a length of twisted pair, but the options are dwindling at this point.

Just by curiosity, do you have a link for what they call "consumer rain bucket"?
What is the value of each tip?

Thanks.

Yes, this one. http://www.rainwise.com/products/detail..../index.php

The specs say it is 0.01" per tip. It also doesn't appear to use twisted pair, and that's not good over a 18.3m length of non-twisted pair, so if I get that one I'll have to cut off the digital gauge and replace the wires with twisted pair.

I went ahead and ordered that rain bucket in the link above. Under 80USD shipped for an 8" rain bucket. Sounds good to me.

This price looks very good, but from America to Europe it might be another $ 130 or more ...
I know it ...  Confused

The fabric looks good and the sensitivity 0.25 mm also.
I'm curious about your experience with this product.

Best Regards

Thanks for the link.

Most probably there is no need to change the cable that comes with the rain gauge. Try it before cutting.
If you don't need the full length, cut only the excess.

Usually the plastic of the cables that come with those devices, have UV protection, which extends its life.

Me too! Sad Anemometer and soil moisture sensor imported from US.
Still can't understand why shipping from US is so expensive. There are a lot of things that probably I would have ordered from US suppliers, but the shipping cost make it prohibitive (frequently the shipping cost is more than the value of the product, very hard to understand).

Someone should tell this to Trump Smile Learn with China.

Sorry for the off topic.
