Problems with Linux Arduino IDE (1.8.3)
#1

HI

I just tried to upgrade my Pro2 Rx software to V2.1 b002.

Before I started I updated my IDE from 1..8.1 to 1.8.3 ( I use Linux Mint 64 bit ).

I could NOT upload the sketch The IDE compiled OK, read/ verified the flash ok, and then started to write the new version, after 5 /6 seconds it stopped and I got permanent time out errors  from the IDE.

I then reverted to  IDE version 1.8.1 and the new software compiled and uploaded correctly.

Looking at the Arduino  forum page, there was another guy with the similar sort of problem.

Anyone else seen this?

regards

Patrick

What does the error say? Maybe turn verbose logging in the IDE options.
IDE issues are usually because of the required libraries are missing or in the wrong location.

|Hi Uncle Bob

Please read what I wrote!

When using 1.8.3   The sketch compiled OK!      ( The required libraries were in the present and in the correct locations! )

But

The compiled software would only upload to the device flash for about 5/6 seconds. The upload then hung until the watchdog timer timed out and the IDE reported "timeout"

Using the SAME library and sketch, IDE v1..8.1 complied and UPLOADED with no problems.

IDE v 1.8.3 worked OK reading from the micro , no problems. It just gives up on the write to the device, after about a third of the upload.

I cannot give you any more details errors unless I reinstall IDE v1.8.3 again.

cheers

Patrick
