The specs say it is 0.01" per tip. It also doesn't appear to use twisted pair, and that's not good over a 18.3m length of non-twisted pair, so if I get that one I'll have to cut off the digital gauge and replace the wires with twisted pair.
I went ahead and ordered that rain bucket in the link above. Under 80USD shipped for an 8" rain bucket. Sounds good to me.

Most probably there is no need to change the cable that comes with the rain gauge. Try it before cutting.
If you don't need the full length, cut only the excess.
Usually the plastic of the cables that come with those devices, have UV protection, which extends its life.
