Inspeed Vortex II Wind Sensor with Hall Sensor
#7

(18-11-2016, 02:57)Werk_AG Wrote:  In your winddebug.txt file I can see wind gusts of up to 31mph and a maximum average of 4mph (values in winddebug.txt are in m/s * 1000).
Please keep in mind that the LCD display only shows you the average speed, not the gust speed (To see the instant readings of wind speed you need to connected the RX unit to Cumulus, or have an Wireless Display unit)
Do you have the Wind Speed sensor installed outside the house?
If you are just testing it inside your house, keep an air blower pointing to the wind speed sensor. After some minutes the average speed should be equal to gust speed.

Thanks for the clarifications on the LCD being average speed. So Cumulus was having problems also when receiver further away so swapped out all antennas with ones tuned specifically for 433Mhz which is really crowded in my part of the US but that helped a great deal. Then discovered wind speed started working and moved some stuff around and it dropped out again. After several hours of further troubleshooting discovered that the Inspeed anemometer data signal had a cold solder joint at the screw terminals on the device itself. Resoldered all of them and that problem solved. Was doing all tests indoors with fan running. Last problem is I noticed on the RX board the 9V supply is dropping .45 volts every time there is a transmission to the wireless station and you can see the dropout of power in the LCD and LEDS on the Nano. Looks like the 7809 will have to be replaced. After this ready to deploy outside next to my Davis Vantage Pro 2 and then will run comparison tests for several months along with getting the solar and UV adjusted. This station will be out in a field and the Davis one will be moved further away to another field since I will get more range on 900Mhz in my area since its not crowded and pretty quiet.

I I put the data line back on resistor pullup and didnt seem to make a difference one way or the other.

Thanks for the help!
