If you are using a Raspberry Pi, it's also a good idea to take an image of the entire SD card as a backup once in a while. The Raspberry Pis have a nasty habit of occasionally toasting their SD cards - in my experience, this is more likely if the power fails while the computer is writing to the card. It's not hard to set up a 5v "UPS" for the Raspberry Pi and well worth doing.
