Shred - how easy would it be for a complete MySQL noob to set up something similar to what you have done with the external DB?

I'm not sure how you'd get on with an externally hosted database. I guess it depends how much you're prepared to get your hands dirty and on what you intend to do with the data once it's in an external database.

In my instance, I'm integrating data from other temperature sensors outside the WeatherDuino and some data completely unrelated to the WeatherDuino - it's more a "home automation" system than just weather. Keeping temperature data in the external database lets me evaluate long term trends. I can look back to last Winter and see if things have changed.
