Actually that is the 7,4 cm diameter hole where I was housing the FineOffset stuff.
Drilling melamine is a pain. If I recall well I first tried with what I think in English is called an "hole saw" ("broca craniana") made for wood. It proved impossible.
Finally I did it with a metal hole saw. It's possible but difficult mostly because melamine gets hot, starts to smoke and it's really slow.
In the end I am convinced that a diamond hole saw, of the type made for drilling ceramics is probably the best option.
The truth of the story is all material and tools included it costed me more than buying a ready made radiation shield.
