After a small misstep I got the transmitter built, elected to only install the circuitry I will be using right away so skipped the solar/uv and one of the i2c inputs for now. I'm going to install the AQM and transmitter in a cabinet mounted on an exterior wall with mains power and a battery backup, breadboarded a circuit with a LM388T voltage regulator set to 13.8v to keep the battery topped off and a seperate 7805 regulator to provide 5v to the AQM, seems to work although the regulators definitely require a bit more heat sink than I was expecting:
I've got a diode to prevent the battery from feeding into the output of the 13.8V supply, since it's lead/acid I think it can just stay connected. I can't get any information in CumulsMX, everything just reads zero, I did read that the receiver won't initialise properly without the wind and rain instruments connected so assuming that is the issue? I do get temperature and the air quality information to display on the receiver display and web page.
Here is a quick shot of the box I'm going to use, it's probably a lot bigger than it needs to be but was very affordable as I bought 3 of them for $20 at an auction, there were a few holes that I covered with some aluminum:
My wind sensor is a Davis 7911, found this post :

Has anything changed? Seems like this is all the information Ill need.
