We were able to do some investigation today.
For the design v1.x you can get some problem with the TP5100 charger and the XL6009 without voltmeter when the battery protection circuit has switched the battery off resultiung in too high voltage at the output at least in idle mode which can damage parts on the pcb due to discharging of output capacitor.
This does not happen when a load is connected all the time.
