Hi All,

I'm new to site site from Cape Town, South Africa.
User: MikeM
Name: Mike

Since I moved into my own home 2years ago, I've been wanting to install a weather station.
Being an electronic tinkerer and loving DIY open source stuff the WeatherDuino fits my requirements very well.

I have to complement Werk_AG for developing this very well throughout system.

I've bought the Silicon Chip magazines to get a better overview and understanding of the WeatherDuino system.

Thank you uncle_bob, great article and a very good resource to a better understanding and more insight to the system.

I've gone ahead and ordered my own WeatherDuino system from Werk_AG.
Regarding sensors I'll mainly use the Davis sensors.
Busy putting together lists for the rest of the components needed.

Hopefully everything arrives quickly as I'm really excited to start tinkering with this.

Let us know about your progresses... Your weather station will be the first WeatherDuino Pro2 system in South Africa, also the first on the African continent!

Hi Mike, thanks and welcome!
Just note that those articles are getting a little stale now that Werk_AG has designed newer boards with some new and great features. The idea behind it all is still valid though. Maybe I might write an updated article some day, if I find the time and inclination Smile

Great! No pressure now... Tongue

My target is to get the station up and running before the end of the year.
Unfortunately I have to deal with China shipping to South Africa. Sad

I realise that the article has been written a year ago and the WeatherDuino system has evolved since then, but there is still very valuable information and insight into the system. Thus I feel it's still a valuable resource.

A follow up on the article might generate more interest into the system and broaden the user base.
Maybe a condensed overview of the current system posted on the site would assist future users to get a better understanding of the system.
The article certainly helped me a lot!

Feeling exited! Smile

Finally received my boards on Friday.
The Davis ISS sensor set arrived earlier the month, really nice piece of kit.
Hopefully the rest of the components will be coming in soon so that I can start assemble and test the weather station.

Hi MikeM,

I'm very surprised with that. IICR the boards were shipped in the first days of September. Usually delivery time is around 10 to 12 business days.

No surprise, unfortunately postage to South Africa takes 4-8weeks for some reason.
Package was send 30 Aug, arrived in SA on 28 Sep.
It feels as though packages are doing multiple trips around the world before arriving in SA.
Then, you still need to wait for SA Customs AND the SA Post Office...

Unfortunately the term "Africa time" is a reality... Big Grin

To courier a package to SA goes much quicker, but the costs are rarely worth it.

Hi Mike
Welcome, I hope you enjoy the project as much as I have.
Re postage of boards; I live in Australia and a recent order from Werk took five weeks to arrive, so you are not alone!
