What are the limits ?
#1

HI - having dug into this project again (because of a needed repair) I am once again impressed by the work that has gone into this project. Just wondering how much I stretch the system to cover my Farm.

Can I use a pro 2 plus 433MHz TX and some 4pro TX's in the same system ?

Are there any limits on how many soil moisture/ leaf wetness boards that can be used ? I could see a use case for 3 boards (4 sensors each) at 3 different sites with 3 4 pro TX units

So in this "over the top" system i could imagine :-
1 pro 2 plus 433MHz TX
3 4pro TX's with soil moisture boards and 4 sensors each board - max distance 250m's from RX
3 wifi display units

i almost certainly wont go that far but would appreciate any advice.

Hi,

I will try to answer your questions.

Supposing the receiver is 4Pro Dual Band, the answer is yes.
The 4Pro Dual Band receiver can also receive data from Pro2 transmitters (433Mhz or 315Mhz depending on receiver module installed)

Yes, there are. The limit is 4 soil moisture, 4 soil temperature, and 4 leaf wetness, 4 leaf temperature sensors.
This limit is imposed by the Davis protocol which WeatherDuino emulates.
However, those sensors don't need to be all attached to the same TX unit, instead on the limit you could have 4 soil/leaf interfaces attached to 4 TX unit, with a combination of sensors which doesn't the overall limits.

Example:
One TX with a Soil/Leaf interface in one location can have 2 soil moisture / 2 soil temperature sensors, no leaf sensors
a second TX with a Soil/Leaf interface in another location can have 1 soil moisture / 0 soil temperature sensors, plus a 1 leaf sensor,
a third TX with a Soil/Leaf interface yet in another location can have another 1 soil moisture / 2 soil temperature sensors, plus 3 leaf sensors.

Or any other combination, up to the number maximum of sensors allowed (4 soil moisture, 4 soil temperature, and 4 leaf wetness, 4 leaf temperature sensors).

3 wifi display units

One the limit, ou can use up to 254 WiFi Remote Display units. Up to four of them, can be used report back (using your wifi network) to the receiver the local Temperature / Humidity, acting like a remote T/H sensor. Per example this allows to having on the main receiver the Temperature / Humidity from a bedroom, from a storage on the basement, from a garage, etc

Select from which WiFi Display Unit you want to get data, is done by defining its IP address on the receiver Config_Options.

Hope this helped to give a better figure about what can be done with the WeatherDuino system.

Thank you for your questions.
Rgs.
