Radiation shield recommendations - cjthomson - 18-09-2016

Hey everyone

I currently have a WD Pro 2 RX unit working with my Auriol weather station which I'm about to replace with a WD Pro 2 TX and associated sensors. So far I've got a Davis 6410 anemometer/vane and an SHT-D31 temp/humidity sensor and I plan keep using my Auriol Rain gauge.

I would like to get a radiation shield for the temp/humidity sensor and I'm looking for recommendations. In addition to a Davis 7714 I've also seen a Campbell Scientific RAD06 and RAD10 shield. Does anyone have experience of these radiation shields? Are there any others that I should take a look at?

Thanks in advance
Chris

Hi Chris,

I use the Davis for a while now, I can say the construction is relatively robust. The assembly could be a bit easier though, with long screws going through the structure, but it works.
Inside you've got a bit of space to put your sensors. Actually only 3 plates are hollow, the rest are plain. It means you get little but enough space for a few sensors.
You have also different mounting options which makes it versatile.
Overall good.

These are about the best, and manufacture the campbell scientific shields you mention. The davis shields are also good,
