New forum user and builder - qldbureau - 24-01-2015

Hi everyone...I by chance came across this forum and fantastic sounding project by chance yesterday in a local forum recommending this weather station system. Being somewhat dissatisfied with most station console systems and computer integration, I have been on the look out for something like this.

I have just ordered my Rx and Tx boards, and look forward to being another user. My station when up and running will be in Queensland, Australia. Now to get all the other parts on their way Smile

Welcome mate ! You're joining a reasonably large Aussie contingent here (if I'm counting right, there's at least 4 of us now!)

Hi there from another Queenslander from Mackay.

By any chance you work for BOM?

That forum wasn't Whirlpool by chance? Wink

It's amazing there may soon be more users of this system down here than in Europe Smile

Welcome aboard!

Hi Brett, BigD and uncle_bob, thanks for the welcome. No I'm not a BOM employee - never thought of that when I made up a usernameSmile Just a hobbyist with interest in weather, gadgets and gardening.

It was a Whirlpool post with the link I noticed yesterday, which turned out to be a very good referral! I am handy with a soldering iron and kit construction so I should be pretty good with that. As far as the software side of things, could be a bit more of a challenge if I run into issues. Anyway I am familiar with the IDE and uploading into an Arduino so I should have a start!

I am looking forward to this, and love the modular add on functionality.

Hope to be a part of what sounds like a growing community.
Mark

I will do thanks. Hopefully it will not be too long before most of the parts to get started with will be here. Meanwhile, plenty of reading up here I can do.

Be careful, UK is on the run! Some cards are now flying there!
Even more amazing is that there are more users only in Australia than in my own country!

Welcome to this growing community.
You will build it in a breeze! The software is very simple to configure, just check, or if needed change some values clearly identified near the first lines of the code, compile and upload to the Arduino.

And for any doubt, we are here. As uncle_bod said, just sing out!

Thanks again for the support! I am hoping I will not have too much trouble with getting a web page output running, such as the Weather Blues template. I like the gauge format very much, and have already downloaded the template. First things first though, getting all the parts together here. I have decided it will be easier to avail myself to the web stores for all the run of the mill passive components of Jaycar and RS Components.

I am in the middle of placing an order with element14 for the passive components plus diodes, LEDs and transistors. Have ordered the sensors, wireless and Arduino from eBay.
