PCB headers/connectors - WetCoast - 21-01-2019

Hi All,
I'm looking for suggestions for header/connectors (or whatever you can them) to go on the TX board (V3.12). Specifically for the power, I2C, SHT2X, FAN, ETC connections.
I believe I would need the type that solder to the board and the mating half that I would plug into it.

hope that all makes sense!

Cheers,
Gord

I went for screw terminal blocks in different sizes

Yes! I do not think you can go wrong with these. I started using them late in my WeatherDuino boards and associated hardware and have not looked back. When I rebuilt my temperature and humidity radiation shield last year, I even removed the pin headers I used on the Tx board and replaced with these screw headers.

The 2.54mm pitch I believe is correct.

Those look like just the ticket!
I'll have to do some more looking to see if anyone sells an assortment and perhaps find some that are a bit cheaper on shipping... $3USD for shipping is a bit much but maybe it's the going rate?

Thanks very much.

Cheers,
Gord

Gord,

The same seller has different sizes, I think I used a mixture of 3,4 and 5 way to cover most things. They came in packs of 10 so very economical in that regard.

Aliexpress might be a good place to look too, or Farnell/Element14 may be a good source if you want to up the quality a step but I've never had any issue with the ones in my link.

Thanks again, I'll check it out.

Ended up buying these:

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/6-poles-6-Pin-2-54mm-0-1-PCB-Universal-Screw-Terminal-Block-Connector/141799473894
https://www.ebay.ca/itm/3-poles-3-Pin-2-54mm-0-1-PCB-Universal-Screw-Terminal-Block-Connector/262086781589
https://www.ebay.ca/itm/4-poles-4-Pin-2-54mm-0-1-PCB-Universal-Screw-Terminal-Block-Connector/262086814210

Mostly because of the free shipping.
We'll see what they're like when they arrive Wink
That is if China still likes us enough to send us stuff.

Hi everyone,

in the beginning I also had these screw terminals... Sometimes they are just perfect! - BUT now I switched to some jst xh 2.54 headers...
I bought a set at Ali:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/230pcs-XH-2-54-Kit-in-box-2p-3p-4p-5-pin-2-54mm-Pitch-Terminal/32751262161.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.27424c4dA369Hl
and

You can have good connection results only with the rigth crimping pliers - You have to take this into account...

Best regards

Hi,

Yes that is also what I use: it's much easier to plug/unplug, it's polarised, and you do not need a screwdriver. All my connectors are made with those.

Regards.

Well, in the beginning, (4 years ago) I started by using those ones too, but later I completely switched to the screw versions. The main reason is that to make the connector, first you have to pass te cable trough the hole of an outside box, and them build the connector using the correct pliers. Doing this when we are outdoor on a roof, its not always easy. By other side, if later you decide to remove the cable (to install another), you have to cut the connector or disassemble it as usually it don't pass through the box hole.

The only disadvantage I see, is that you must always be very careful when doing the connections.
Just my 5 cents Smile
