WD Time/Date issues - Barrow4491 - 06-10-2018

Werk,
I have two WD units (Nano based models) and have just updated them with the latest software and have issues with the time and date.
They are both fitted with RTC modules on The i2c connector and initially the time and date is correct on boot instantly but after a few minutes it reverts to some random time and date.
I removed the RTC module from one unit but the time and date does not show correctly even after 10 minutes or so but the remaining data is good.
Regards
Jim

Hi Jim,

Have you upgraded de RX software as well?
If the problem remains after upgrading the RX software, delete the RTClib, Time and Timezone libraries, and install the ones includes in the latest software package.

Werk,
The library change made no difference

RE: WD Time/Date issues - Barrow4491 - 07-10-2018

Werk
I just noticed watching them carefully that they both had the date change at the same time and it went to 00:00 31-12-1974 and progresses  from there and then after approximately 14-15 minutes they both went to to 00:00 31-12-2087. I am still watching them and will let you know what happens.
I assume that it must be something in the Rx that makes them do it at the precise same time??

Jim

Hi,

What happens when the WD units start, are the time and date correct at startup?
Does the units have WiFi connection?

Werk,
I have 2 identical nano based units both (no WiFi) with RTC modules (i2c) and they start up normally with the correct time and date.
I removed the RTC module from one (A) and on start up it has a random date and time (23:46 27-01-2007) and both clocks have the cursor flashing and both update the weather data OK.
Unit A continues with the erroneous date and time but changes the date at 00.00 as one would expect, but the other unit, will change it's date and time to something weird at some random time.
Yesterday i saw 3 changes ot date and time within a couple of hours but today it has been fine for 33 minutes so far???
All I can tell you is that if have the RTC modules in both, they both go random at an identical time.
Regards
Jim

PS  They both went random just now to an identical date and time 00.00  31-12-1979 one with a RTC and one without.

Hi Jim,

Once you say that the problem was with the Arduino Nano based Wireless Display units, I quickly found the problem.
By mistake, the Pro2 PLUS software package released on 2018-10-05, doesn't included the updated software for the Arduino Nano Wireless Display units.
Please download the software package again and re-install the software on your Wireless Display units. If the date and time don't start correctly, let them run for 15 to 16 minutes.
Please give me some feedback.

Thanks

Werk,
All good so far i’m sure the problem is solved, the date / Time is instant because of the RTC modules.
Are you giving any thought to a 4 day forecast feature in the Pro 2 Rx software as I see that  there are 2 spare menu items available and I like the feature shown in the new Pro4 Compact ?
