Outdoor Temp/Humidity - Tx unit - 41south - 17-09-2018

Hi all

One thing I haven't really seen detailed is the outdoor temp/humidity sensor. I see a spot for the TMP36 on my Tx unit but I want outdoor temp and humidity. I ordered an extra BME280, can I just connect that to the I2C bus connector next to the solar/UV connector and use that? Will the baro just be ignored on that unit? (I'll use the indoor BME280 baro)

Outdoor Temperature / Humidity Sensors

SHT31 from Sensirion
All SHT2x series from Sensirion
All SHT1x series from Sensirion
SHT75 from Sensirion
HTU21D, DHT21 or DHT22 (low end sensors) - Support for these sensors will be deprecated in a near future

Use 5V versions.

And confirming that can just go onto the I2C bus connector?

The LSDA/LSCL is the extended I2C bus?

Preferably use the LSDA/LSCL connector. It allows the use cables with a greater length between the sensor and the TX interface.

It seems that the I2C extender chip used is going to be hard to get at some stage in the future. Farnell/Element14 have told me that they are now out of production, although they do have 5000 in stock! I did find smd versions but I'm not sure on the production life of those.

Another quick question - is there any problem with splitting the normal weather devices across 2 Tx units? I may have to put the wind device on 1 Tx unit and the rest of the devices on another (rain/temp/hum etc)

They are still very easy to find through eBay, specially from china sellers.

No problem at all. Splitting weather devices across two or more TX units (máx is 4) sometimes is preferable as it may allow a better placement of the instruments.

Good morning,

Sensor SHT75 is no longer in production.   It has been replaced by the new SHT85 always with I2C interface.  By replacing it with the new SHT85, does compatibility with weatherduino remain?

Hello,
according to the sensirion page the SHT85 is based on a SHT3x-Sensor.
This means by selecting SHT31 in the software it will work.
