I'd like to show you two other pictures of measurement by my rain gauge:

This is from March 7, 2018 - temperature was 0.6° C - it snowed:
   

A this from today - for a while it was very heavy rain - rate was about 70 mm/hr:
   

I must reaffirm my satisfaction with this device.

By what I could see from the rain gauge pictures ans specs, and by the results presented by you, no doubt that it is a good quality device. Performance under heavy rain is the most difficult.
As expected, seems that you also did a good work with the addition of the heater.
