First a short introduction about what is CRASM

CRASM, is a Wildlife Recovery Center, located in one of the slopes of Montejunto Mountain, on the village of Tojeira, Vilar - Cadaval. It is part of the national network of Wildlife Recovery Centers, coordenated by the Nature and Forestry Conservation Institute (ICNF). It was founded on September 1, 2007.

The CRASM, fundamentally works as a veterinary clinic for wildlife, welcoming animals that are found debilitated or injured by accidental reasons or due to the action of man. However its activity is not limited to this grand design, and often is promoting activities and workshops related to environmental education, for either adults or children.

With the intention to better understanding the environmental conditions of the place where they have their facilities and to provide to locals, meteorological information in real time, the CRASM have decided to install at its headquarters, a weather station.

The MeteoCercal, was invited to participate in this project, invitation that I accepted immediately.

The weather station was installed on May 28, 2016, and although the station is already fully operational, their web page is not available yet (we are waiting for the installation of an ADSL line), which we hope will happen soon.

As soon as Crasm will have an internet connection, I will update this thread with their web site address.

The web address of the CRASM weather station is: www.crasmontejunto.org

Obviously, the CRASM weather station is based in a WeatherDuino Pro2 system. For now, the wind speed and direction sensors are from Fine Offset, and the Temperature / Humidity sensor is a Sensirion SHT21 installed in a radiation shield. The software used is CumulusMX, running in a Raspberry PI equipped with a 32GB SSD disk. The energy consumption of the whole system is less than 10 Watts.

No matter if you live near or far, delight yourself in the stunning scenery of the Montejunto Mountain, and come to visit CRASM.
Did you know that you can patronize one animal already recovered, and participate directly in their return to wildlife? You will never forget a moment like that.

A bit of the CRASM Weather Station is from all of you that have contributed, supporting the WeatherDuino Pro2 project. Thank you for that, and for having read.

Hello my dear friend.
In that picture I'm the guy on the ground. The guy on the ladder is a friend of mine, a great Portuguese spelunker.

It's a pity that you did not turn around when shooting! Wink

You can visit the CRASM website at www.crasmontejunto.org

I had to look that Spelunker term up. According to google it's a person who explores caves.

Tell him that Uncle Bob thinks he looks like Zorro Wink It must be the hat Smile

Their new weather site looks great. So nice job there.
I guess you will get around to filling in the "About" page. Maybe my joke about hamsters creating the electricity for the servers should be avoided in this case haha.

Perhaps the most appropriate term for spelunker will be speleologist (espeleogista in Portuguese language). Do you know, my English is as poor as me. Smile
For sure I will tell him... or better I will show him this post. Certainly you will get a new Portuguese friend. SmileSmileSmile

They have some hamsters there... you may not believe, but I already have told them about your joke. They loved the idea, very ecological!

Thanks for your opinion about the website.
Good job! Smile
Congratulations!
Thank you Zdenek.

Until now it is running amazingly, uploading data through a 3G dongle attached to a router. I had never used a 3G internet connection for a weather station before.

Hi and congratulations again ... Smile

Me and my family (my son) very expect in 3G and 4G networks - 2 years ago for about 2 years, I've helped a lot in the early days when the penetration of technical services SOCIFI. It was the first for wifi and after it for mobile networks. It is amazing especially when you move - eg. in a car, bus, train, etc.

For us, it was definitely great for use in mobile weather measurement stations, for hunting storms, tornadoes and the like "madness". But for this "fun" I already have too high age Sad
