Hi all,
I have been running a Fine offset (Maplin Wh1081) for a couple of years uploading to weather underground and twitter, I have been frequently frustrated with loss of signal between the units and then I saw this mentioned on the Sandaysoft forum.

Is it possible to include a rain sensor, my wife often moans that she doesn't care how much rain but when it rains because of her washing, so can I include a rain sensor with audible alarm?

Was that my post? Smile

This currently isn't included in the code, but hey you never know what may pop up in the future.

That said making a rain alarm as a separate board would be fairly easy.
Here's a site showing a circuit that is as basic as it can get:

Welcome to the world of the WeatherDuino by the way.
Thanks for the reply Uncle Bob, I have had a good read of the forum this morning and it may be slightly above my skills.
I am new to Arduino and so I might spend some time getting used to whats what, I have good (ish) soldering skills and have a decen soldering iron with digital control and I previously worked repairing medical and industrial endoscopes.

However after knee surgery I have been left in chronic pain and my pain meds render my brain useless a lot of the time and so I need extra time to figure it all out as there isn't a stage by stag, start to finish how to, but I will tackle it at some stage because this fine offset base station is not that good.
