Hello

I had a bad illness where I lost some of my memories, so I am fighting back to live and wundering what I setup in the past. Huh
I try to service and upgrade all of my existing sensor installations, but can not remember what I have done in past and how I have done it. Sad
I tried to find instructions on your WEB site and Forum for fresh setup or upgrade, but had no success.

I already have a WeatherDuino_AQM_III_v6.1_b008_20210929 running fine, which I want to upgrade to build 010.
I also have two spare AQM-III PCB which I want to setup, but I don't find any real instruction how to do.
I already programmed, and updated a lot of ESP32 and 8266 with ESP_EASY and other sensor software, so I know, how it normally should work.

I used IDE 1.8.9 and 2.x, no success
I connect the AQM-III to my PC, but it is not seen as a COM Port. (the brand new AQM-III is showing an WiFi Access Point)
I already edited the Config_Options.h and Credentials.h for my needs.
I know, I have to select LOLIN(WEMOS) D1 & R2 mini.
Compiling is stalling due to a missing RH_F95.h

My BIG question is now, can someone give me step by step instruction how to upgrade the firmware or flash a brand new system?
  • What IDE version do I need?
  •
  • Do I need a special USB cable, other than the one I use for the ESP32 Boards?
  •
  • Do I need any sensor connected or can I test run the AQM-II PCB naked?
  •
  • How and is the OTA update working?
  •
  • On the picture, there is a PCB wit a second TX (RF96), what have I ordered, what is it for? (LORA?)
Thank you very much for any help

Greetings from Switzerland
Jochen
Hi Jochen,

I will try to anwser your BIG questions:

Quote:What IDE version do I need?

The answer is in the firmware download page:
WeatherDuino Air Quality Monitor III - v6.1_b010 - Release date: 2022-05-21
Tested with Arduino IDE 1.8.19 and ESP32 2.0.3 (may not compile with other versions).

Quote:Do I need a special USB cable, other than the one I use for the ESP32 Boards?

No. Any good quality USB data cable will work.

Quote:How and is the OTA update working?

OTA is for Over The Air programing. It only works after having programing your board by USB with WeatherDuino firmware.
For more info about how to use OTA, please search on Arduino foruns.

Quote:On the picture, there is a PCB wit a second TX (RF96), what have I ordered, what is it for? (LORA?)

This optional transmiter module is for transmiting data in 433Mhz OOK. Its purpose is to make the AQMIII compatible with old (Pro2) WeatherDuino systems.

Hope had helped.
Kind regards
Many thanks, you helped me a lot. One Board is already upgraded, the second will be programmed over the day.
Greetings, Jochen
