Hi Nigel,

For several reason, I'm afraid that using the cloud Arduino IDE isn't suitable for this project.

Best and easy way is install the Arduino IDE on your computer (it can be latest version) and install all the libraries provided on the WeatherDuino software package. Just copy them to your local libraries folder, usually c:\users\xxxx\My Documents\Arduino\libraries

The WeatherDuino code uses many libraries that were made or customized for this project, this imply having to use the provided libraries, not any others.
As said, you can use latest Arduino IDE, but you need to pay attention to supported ESP32 version, currently almost all WeaterDuino code for ESP32 boards, must use v1.0.6 (latest is 2.0.2, but by now isn't compatible).

I take the opportunity to inform everyone that quite soon, all WeatherDuino code which run on ESP32 systems will be upgraded to successfully compile with latest ESP32 v2.0.2.
This evening I have removed the wind and rain sensors from the pole.  Removed the FO connectors stripped the cable ends tined and attached (mostly guess) to the TX.  Earlier I managed to compile the firmware sketch on my old notebook and upload to the Nano.  Powered on the TX board and I have a winking TX light.  I think that is a good sign... You can enable some of the Debug Options on the TX software and check if you are getting coherent readings from the attached sensors. Wink
Hum been away for a while...  other things dragged me away from the project and a lack of cash.

Bit of a shame as we are certainly getting weather.
And again things dragged me away...  However, Two days ago I dragged a large outside cabinet around to the telegraph pole that my sensors are (will be) hung on.  I dug some paving slabs into the turf of the field next to the pole and laid the flags.  Today I anchor bolted the cabinet to the concrete flags and started mounting the full size PV panel on the back of the cabinet.  The small IP rated grey box which was to house everything is now tucked, looking a little lost, in the corner of the cabinet.  I have a leisure lead acid battery on order (I have given up on the Li ion cells I started with).  I have to replace the anemometer as the old one turned itself into a two cup version the new one is sat in the cabinet waiting.  The driving force is to finally get this project out of the house and deployed.  I'm looking forward to not missing out on the rain fall data.  Though I am sounded by reservoirs which have an array of rainfall sensors that are now published for all to see!

OK a few more updates...  I'm definitely taking the longer road on this project.

Uncle_Bob.  I'll see if I can't get some pictures of the set up as it is in its 'not finished state' and post them.  The box where all the kit is being located is currently being worried by sheep...  The little bleaters have knocked down a wall to get into the field.

I have decided to remake the TX board.  My original is toast.  I think it's a combination of errors on my behalf that has led to a non functional device.  First off the power supply I was using to bench test decided to chuck out 20 V on all settings.  Second off I decided to replace the header pins I put on (I was impatient with the screw terminals (as stated above in the thread).  Anyway, I had a 'mare of a time doing this...  Resulting in me deciding to drill out the solder holes for the screw connector terminals.  I really hadn't appreciated the subtleties of holes in a multi layered PCB.  Big mistake...  During this my and in my frustration I noticed I'd also peeled off a component.  So a some what hamfisted approach has put me back to square one.  Not to worry.

Interestingly whilst on this long road I have noted that the availability and price of ultrasonic anemometers is getting close to viable.  I've had to replace my anemometer, the one I had got smashed in a gale while I was procrastinating on how to power the setup.

So as I said at the start of the project a 'journey'.

Hopefully there are two images attached. 
One of the cabinet (misspelt) and the box in which the TX board will live.  This box was supposed to house the lot but my change of tack (way bigger PV panel and leisure battery) needed more space.
The other is a general one.  It shows the phone pole on which the ind sensors were / will be mounted and the PV panel installed.
