Hi weather frogs,
Today I would like to introduce you to my latest creation for my weather station, the Millenium Falcon from Star Wars as a housing for the solar radiation and UV sensor kit for the WeatherDuino weather station.
The Falcon is made with the 3D printer and, in addition to the solar panel and UV sensor, is equipped with a Wemos D1 mini that lights up a few neopixels for nighttime lighting.

I must say that here is a highly creative work...
I suppose you printed it in ASA or PETG to be resistant to UV.
How you dealt with doing with waterproof?

I'm also curious how you are handling the water - I already hat te renew some stuff because I got water in my housing because of my outside and UV proof glue for setting up solar panel and deck glases for the UV and IR sensor did not performe as expected ...
And DC voltage and water will result in a vanishing electrode

Sounds super cool!
I am also curious how you protect your UV sensor - most plexiglas won’t let UV pass through so we need to use specific glasses to do so. What did you use in your case?

Hello Werk_AG,
Sometimes I'm just a playful little boy
I printed the lower part with ASA filament, the upper part with PETG. ASA filament is a bit stubborn, it warps up very quickly and the upper half just wouldn't work, so it was printed with PETG. I sealed both parts with a sticky sealant, hot glue and at the end with a lot of primer and spray paint. After several days of rain and snow, I can say that the housing is tight.

I took the glass from an e-vaporizer tank to protect the UV sensor :-D
