WeatherDuino Pro2 'PLUS' Build
#1

Hi Guys,

I've hit eBay today and ordered a heap of new parts and displays, and have also contacted Werk re ordering new boards.  I'll be building a total new/complete 'Plus' weather station for a friend as well as a new Plus receiver station for my setup.  I'll detail my build and progress of the new 'Plus' receiver in this thread.  I'll also be looking to take advantage of the new wireless module on the Plus receiver board, and have it perform the regular updates to WeatherUnderground, thereby replacing my old RasPi with CumulusMX.  I'll also describe this setup and process as I work though it.  Should be fun and looking forward to a new project for 2017...

Feel free to jump in any time with updates, questions or issues re your own Plus builds, and together we'll work though the builds and all learn along the way.

I expect that eBay and the "snail-mail" from Portugal will take a while, so stay tuned and keep an eye here if your interested in more information re the new Plus receiver module build, and how it all comes together.

Cheers for now...

Hi,
This display will not work. It must be exactly the one stated on the parts list, with the ILI9341 chipset.

I believe that one looks ok Mark....  It has the daughter board on the back with the 9341 chipset onboard (LCD Single Chip Driver).  Are you finding everything else you need..???

Hi Mark,  I went for this one as they as a "pair", the price seemed fair and the shipping was free. The only point to note is that the pins on the TX module as soldering at 90 degrees, so I'll probably desolder them and insert new 90 degree pins so that the board stands vertical when mounted.

I'd also suggest considering buying a "spare" pair of modules, as I have had a faulty TX module in the past.  They are cheap, after all, and I doubt the QA is very high on this sort of low cost modules.

Cheers Mark...

These ones have the pins in the correct position to fit the boards (RX and WD):
